Today’s NY historic event is emotionally charged and will be remembered for ages to come.
On August 7th, back in 1974, French stuntman Philippe Petit walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers of the then recently-dedicated World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan. He performed this 1,350 feet above the ground. The feat become known as the “Artistic Crime of the Century.”



Before his Twin Towers walk, Petit was known to New Yorkers for his frequent tightrope-walking performances and magic shows in the parks of New York, especially Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village:
In 2008, “Man on Wire,” a documentary about Petit’s walk between the towers came out and won numerous awards. Also a movie called “The Walk” came out in September 2015. Here are the trailers:
